⁵⁷ Then the Jewish leaders^[a] asked him, “You are not even 50 years old, yet you have seen Abraham?”^[b]

⁵⁸ Jesus told them, “Truly, I tell all of you^[c] emphatically, before there was an Abraham, I AM!” ⁵⁹ At this, they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the Temple.
